Welcome to Troop 7
Boy Scouts of America
Scouting has been a valuable part of the American upbringing since 1912. We, at Troop 7, carry on that legacy of enriching young men as they age, and equip them with skills and abilities that will greatly aid them throughout their lives. Whether it be at their future job or even with a future family, we hope that they will take the leadership skills that are developed as well as other applicable skills, and apply them to any situation.
About Us
Here at Troop 7, we strive to encourage and empower scouts. We give them the tools to develop valuable skills, first aid, orientation, and knots for example, as well as enrich their experiences with us through leadership opportunities. We hope to be able to fashion leaders and honorable individuals who will direct our nation's future. At the same time, we give scouts a warm and nurturing environment to develop and mature. As every scout who has come from this troop will tell you, everyone is family! Knowledge as well as adventure is at the heart of scouting, and we strive to carry that mission forward through our troop. We hope you will check us out sometime!
Our Mission
We strive to do it all here at Troop 7. We give opportunities for development as well as encourage the spirit of scouting. We offer many fantastic opportunities throughout the year whether it be the annual trips, or the epic backpacking adventures. Taking the skills that are taught, scouts are able to apply themselves to almost any scenario that they may face.
Volunteering
Service to the community is at the heart of scouting. Whether it be serving a local body of worship, a local animal shelter, or even aiding an older individual in yard work, opportunities are abundant in this community. Scouts are expected and encouraged to take part in these opportunities, not because it gets them to the next rank, but because it is a way to give back to the community that has given so much of itself to them.
Leadership
Leaders come in all shapes and sizes. Some of these leaders are ones that rarely get recognized, and others are at the forefront of gatherings. That is why we give every scout an opportunity to take up the various roles that are available to the troop. Some of these include but not limited to Senior Patrol Leader (SPL), Assistant Senior Patrol Leader (ASPL), Patrol Leaders, Assistant Patrol Leaders, Scribe, Chaplain Aid, Webmaster, Historian, and Den Chief.
Skill Developement
Skills are an important part of life. There are certain things everyone should know such as first aid. There are some that are more relevant to the outdoors such as fire construction, orientation, and the infamous knots. Though these may seem somewhat irrelevant to everyday life, they are valuable skills for any young man to learn. That is why, as Troop 7, we stress these lessons so heavily at the weekly meetings.
As you can see, we strive to give boys an opportunity to grow and develop into men who walk and talk the scout law. "A scout is Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, and Reverent."
“You make a living by what you get. You make a life by what you give.”
Winston Churchill
